X-Braced Shear Wall Design

The StiffWall shear wall provides clients with the industry’s most effective light steel framing shear wall solution, delivering enhanced value to a client’s overall project.
The Boot-Column-Strap Approach Delivers Efficiency by:
- Reducing the amount of fasteners required
- Minimizing the use of built-up column members
- Providing guide holes for an accurate fastener placement to column, structure, and strap track
- Anchor design to foundation or the next element in the structure is also provided, allowing for the selection of the optimal flat strap and the number of screw fasteners

With the built-in shear wall grouping and export feature of the Load Generator, the design of shear walls within the X-Brace Shear Wall module is simplified further as the shear walls geometry and lateral loads can be automatically set.

SteelSmart System Advanced
The Lateral Load Generator/Distributor tool uses the dimensions and load specification for a building and calculates the total lateral wind and seismic loads according to ASCE 7 Standard “Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures”.
Plots framing layout of the wall and adds the connection design data (clip designation, number of fasteners, embedment, and screw pattern) to the typical connection detail. The drawing also includes framing members’ cross-sections and shapes. The drawing can be exported in AutoCAD;DXF format.
