The SteelSmart^® System enables the design of the innovative StiffWall^® shear wall system.

The StiffWall^® shear wall provides clients with the industry’s most effective light steel framing shear wall solution. The Boot-Column-Strap approach delivers efficiency by:

• Reducing the amount of fasteners required

• Minimizing the use of built-up column members

• Providing guide holes for an accurate fastener placement to column, structure, and strap track

• Anchor design to foundation or the next element in the structure is also provided, allowing for the selection of the optimal flat strap and the number of screw fasteners.

New Features of SSS Shear Wall Design:

• Updated boot connection design.

• Flange dimension of 350, 362, & 400 StiffWall^® columns is 2”.

• Special seismic requirement for StiffWall^® system is now considered per AISI-Lateral Standard 2004.

• Serviceability considered as part of the component design.
